Green Earth Communicators (GECO)

An international not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation – NGO – to be registered first in Australia but also in the US, Europe, Asia and Africa, with members around the world.

All members are engaged as communicators in some form:  media (online, print, broadcasting), consulting, education, publishing, advertising, international/national institutions, business/industry, Government, Universities and all other relevant organisations.

Individual and corporate/institution members agree to maintain and promote green, sustainable and environmental principles and practices, as well as recognise and support global climate change awareness and action.

GECO offers members:

1. A network to initiate ideas and programmes, as well as provide support and advice to members;
2. A global website, incorporating a forum for members to communicate directly and gain from the knowledge and experience of others;
3. The opportunity to be part of a unique global not for profit, non-governmental organisation dedicated to the needs and dreams of effective communicators;
4. A global platform to express views and exchange information;
5.  The means to enhance effective communication to a global audience on important green earth issues, including the environment, climate change, sustainability, energy efficiency and clean energy;
6. A proposed annual international conference in a selected global city, as well as Webinars, online and virtual events.

Founding Members

There are a lot of wonderful communicators who have expressed interest in being involved in some way with the establishment and operation of GECO in Australia and around the world.

Initially four others have been associated with Ken Hickson in getting this off the ground. They are:

Peter Stewart of Carbon Market/Eco Voice;

David Toomey of Super Green Me;

Steven Howard of Howard Marketing Services;

and

Simon Schweigert of Peninsula Partnerships.

Our legal advisors in Australia – Optim Legal in Sydney – are providing pro bono services to get the organisation registered and up and running.

There are many others, who will be named shortly, and have been enthusiastically endorsing GECO to help get it set up and expand globally.
